childhood in Italica, Baetica, which is close to modern-day
Camas,

of Acilius Attianus, a knight, and Marcus Ulpius Traianus

for only a year and is already unpopular with the
army, names Trajan as his adoptive heir. Trajan is
by this time known as a brilliant military commander

news of adoption, thus proving his loyalty to the
new heir. |

initial dispute as to whether Plotina forged the official
documents declaring Hadrian as the new Emperor, but

relinquishes the territories east of the Tigris
and Euphrates
(Mesopotamia).
He then quickly takes action to suppress the Jewish

River Tyne to the Solway Firth.
